Just in front of the cottage you could start the famous Chestnut Walk - a lovely walk situated between the River Kennet and Reading Gaol’s high wall. Planted with chestnuts and guarded with memorial gates and a love seat dedicated to Oscar Wilde.
If you’re travelling by train, Reading station is just short 5 minute walk away, and is a great link to everywhere in UK, and especially easy access to Windsor, Oxford, Heathrow Airport, Gatwick Airport, and London Paddington just 25 mins journey. Everything else, such as Reading University, the hospital, stadium, and Shinfield Film Studios are just a 10 minute ride on the very reliable local bus service.
